72nd EAGE Conference & Exhibition incorporating
SPE EUROPEC 2010
14 - 17 June, 2010
Barcelona - Spain

These are the times when creativity, inspiration, innovation and efficiency are most valuable to our industry. The need to replace conventional energy resources will not diminish, plus the world is counting on a growing supply of unconventional sources. Our challenge in these times is to be more efficient in supplying both. We hope to bring to Barcelona a global talent that will update us on the current status of leading edge technologies applied to our quest for subtler conventional resources together with a new breed of geoscientists who will disseminate their accumulated experiences in the vast array of unconventional alternatives.

Barcelona is a perfect place for this meeting. Placed in a beautiful setting, nestled between the striking Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea, it has a deserved reputation for inspiring creativity and innovation. It is also known as one of the most welcoming and enjoyable cities in Europe. The timing is also ideal, just about to exit Barcelona’s springtime and ready to enter “A New Spring for Geoscience”.

Workshop Meeting Seismic Waves in Laterally Inhomogeneous Media VII
21 - 26 June, 2010
Praga - República Checa

The Institute of Geophysics, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Prague, together with the Consortium "Seismic Waves in Complex 3-D Structures", Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague, organize a workshop "Seismic Waves in Laterally Inhomogeneous Media VII". The workshop will take place at the Castle of Nové Hrady in southern Bohemia.

As in the previous workshops held under the same name in the Liblice Castle in 1978, 1983 and 1988, in the Třešť Castle in 1995, in the Zahrádky Castle in 2000, and in the Hrubá Skála Castle in 2005, also this one will mainly deal with theoretical and computational aspects of seismic wave propagation in complex structures, and with applications involving these aspects in seismology and seismic exploration.

The main topics of the workshop will be forward and inverse modelling of seismic wave fields in laterally inhomogeneous, isotropic and anisotropic, elastic and anelastic structures. The workshop will be divided into several oral and poster sessions.
The conference fee will be about EUR 550. This includes accommodation and full board for 5 days at the Castle, social programme, transportation, conference materials and publication of special issue of journal Studia geophysica et geodaetica.

4 - 8 December, 2011
Doha, Catar

The 20th World Petroleum Congress will focus the debate on solutions aimed at providing global access for all to reliable, affordable and sustainable energy in both the near and long term future.

To achieve these goals, producers, consumers, governments and social representatives need to work in close cooperation to develop innovative ways to find and develop new oil, gas and alternative energy resources, as well as to set higher standards for wiser, more efficient and cleaner energy consumption. The need for a long term view on the massive investments required by the energy sector, and the returns to investors that adopt such a visionary approach, will also be highlighted and debated.
